Eating and drinking
Treat your significant other and experience a taste of the high life with a meal at either Jamie Oliver's Fifteen or John Torrode's The Luxe or head over to Brick Lane and tuck into a curry at one of the many authentic curry houses that line the street. Your night doesn't have to end when your meal does as Shoreditch is home to many bars and pubs, such as the Blind Beggar – perfect for when you've got the kids in tow – and the Drunken Monkey. Ask your Shoreditch estate agent to point you in the direction of Café Kick and Happiness Forgets as these are also both well worth a visit.
Shoreditch is home to all of the usual high street chains and supermarkets that you'd expect, but there are also a wide range of quirky, individual and independent shops. Pop into menswear store Present to pick up some of the latest fashions, as well as a coffee made by the World Barista Champion 2009 or head over to the famous 24 hour Bagel shop on Brick Lane. If you're craving something a little more unusual, then Boxpark – a shopping centre made of refitted shipping containers – is a must-see, as are the many pop-up shops and restaurants in the area – check out Timeout for all the latest events. Shoreditch is also home to a whole host of markets including Brick Lane's Sunday market, the Bethnal Green Road Market and Columbia Road's flower market.
If you're an outgoing outdoorsy type, then grab your bike and take a ride along Hackney Canal or dive into nature at Spitalfields or Hackney City Farm. For those who like to take things a bit slower, you can also enjoy Victoria Park and Weavers Field, or why not grab a coffee at Brick Lane Coffee and watch the world rush by? Every July, Shoreditch hosts the annual Shoreditch festival which is an absolute must-see, as is the 1234 Shoreditch music festival that runs in September. You can also benefit from a wide range of leisure centres and health clubs, as well as independent art galleries and cinemas.
