The The Aldgate is guarded on its southern boundary by that most famous of London landmarks - the Tower of London - a place steeped in history. The old Aldgate Pump is located at the junction between Fenchurch Street and Leadenhall Street and it was from here in times past that the distances to other counties such as Essex and Middlesex were measured. Saint Katherine’s Dock, which was formerly the commercial hub of the London Port, is nearby. Climb the 311 steps of London’s Doric for sweeping views over London. The Gherkin (at 30 St Mary Axe) is one of London’s most iconic structures. A trip to the London Underwriting Center, all Hallows by the Tower or Lloyd’s of London, takes visitors on an amazing historical journey.

Designed in 1795, Trinity Square Garden is home to the Tower Hill War Memorial and is a pleasant place to visit. Additionally, those living in EC3 are catered for by Potters Fields Park and the Mile End Park Leisure Center where there is a wide variety of activities for sports lovers.

On Super Saturday, visitors can enjoy a real carnival atmosphere with all types of entertainers, including stilt walkers, jugglers, and more. The Stunt Vaults and the Unicorn Theatre London are also great places to while away any spare time. In the more eastern end, Fat Cats is popular for its food and cocktails while the Bow Bells pub offers some great dishes. The Morgan Arms is another modern gastropub that still retains its East End atmosphere. There are plenty places to eat exotic food, from street markets to restaurants, while ramshackle bars are often full of locals and passers-by.

The EC3 area stretches across a vast part of east central London with a mix of architecture that consists of commercial and residential properties. The area encompasses the districts of Aldgate, Billingsgate, Fenchurch Street, Leadenhall, Lloyd's of London, Lombard Street, Royal Exchange, St Mary Axe, Tower Hill and the Tower of London.
